Furnace Cleaning Service FAQs
Great question! When we come out for a furnace cleaning, we’re doing way more than just a quick dust-off. We inspect and clean all the major components – the heat exchanger, blower, burners, and filters. We also check for any carbon monoxide or gas leaks, which is honestly one of the most important parts of what we do. Think of it as a full health checkup for your heating system. We’ll show you before and after photos so you can see exactly what we found and what we fixed.
You’re right, there’s a lot of conflicting info out there! For most homes in Vancouver, we recommend annual cleaning, ideally in early fall before you really start using your furnace. But if you have pets, allergies, or an older system, you might want to do it twice a year. Living here on the coast, we get a lot of moisture and salt air that can affect your system differently than other places. After 750+ services, we’ve found that yearly cleaning prevents most of the big problems we see.
Most furnace cleanings take us about 2-3 hours, depending on what we find and how long it’s been since your last service. You don’t have to babysit us the whole time, but we do like having someone around when we start and finish so we can walk you through what we discovered. We’ll need access to your furnace area and might need to move some stuff around, but we always clean up after ourselves. No need to take a day off work or anything like that.
Ha! We get this question more than you’d think. All our technicians are licensed, insured, and trained specifically in HVAC systems. We’re not just some guys with shop vacs – we use specialized equipment and follow strict safety protocols. We’re also award-winning (not to brag), which means we’ve proven our expertise in the industry. When we’re checking for gas leaks and carbon monoxide, you definitely want someone who knows what they’re doing.
Totally understand – nobody likes sticker shock! Our furnace cleaning starts at a fair base price, and we’re upfront about any additional costs before we do the work. If we find something that needs repair or replacement, we’ll explain what it is, why it matters, and give you options. We’re not the cheapest guys in town, but we’re also not trying to rip anyone off. Most customers tell us our pricing is reasonable for the quality of work and peace of mind they get.
Don’t feel bad – everyone procrastinates on this stuff! In Vancouver, we’re busiest in September and October when people suddenly realize winter’s coming. If you can book in late summer or early fall, you’ll usually get better availability and your furnace will be ready when the temperature drops. That said, we work year-round, so don’t stress if you’re reading this in January. Better late than never, especially if you’re noticing weird smells or your heating bills are going up.
You’re not being paranoid – it’s smart to pay attention to your system! Some obvious signs are weird smells when you turn on the heat, higher energy bills, uneven heating in your house, or if it’s been more than a year since your last cleaning. Also, if you’re getting more dust in your house or family members are having more allergy issues, that could be your furnace. When in doubt, give us a call. We can usually tell you over the phone if it sounds urgent or if you can wait a bit longer.
